A Republican bill to ban local governments from regulating the oil and gas industry failed in a senate committee on a 4 to 1 vote. The measure was introduced after several communities, mostly along the Front Range, issued temporary moratoriums on hydraulic fracturing. Bente Birkeland has more from the state capitol.

A bill that would allow civil unions in Colorado cleared its first legislative hurdle on Wednesday. After a lengthy debate, the measure passed the senate judiciary committee on a bi-partisan vote. But as Bente Birkeland reports, it still faces a long and uncertain future.
