Literacy Bill Moves Forward

Cali and Grady Nichols testified against the bill
A bipartisan bill that would recommend third graders repeat the grade if they can’t read, passed a house committee on Monday on a vote of 10 to 3. In an unusual move Governor John Hickenlooper personally testified in support of the bill, but it still faces strong opposition from some in the education community. Bente Birkeland has more from the state capitol.
